(I like design that acknowledges the existence, and importance, of cords in ways that are still aesthetically interesting, as opposed to design that attempts to hide cords and pretend that our lives are not wholly dependent upon them. Like, if aliens were to land in the first world and look at our houses, I think they’d be like, “What are all these cords and why is everyone so embarrassed of them?” Of course, we ARE embarrassed of them, because their universality indicates that we’ve become so dependent upon the grid as to become part of the grid. But if we can find pretty ways to acknowledge this dependence, as above, then maybe we can think harder about whether we are okay with our need/love of plugged-in things.)
